There is this Norwegian saying; “Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlige klær” which translates to someting like “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes”. No one would argue, though, that the weather was really bad during this rabbit hunt.
It is often the case also, that weather tends to change during the day. So what started out as a crap morning, turned out to be a successful day hunting rabbit.

I’ve hunted in this terrain since I was a young kid. In fact, my very first successful hunt took place here in Gjesdal. Over the years I’ve observed an increasing number of rabbits as fox hunting been quite successful during the same period.

This particular day I invited friends to join me on the hunt. Even though the weather cleared up later in the day, it was really nice to have this open cabin with a fire place going to prepare a hot meal mid-day. We did not use dogs, hence, a higher number of hunters in the terrain would definitely increase our chances.

To boost the moral of the hunting team I even prepared some cinnamon rolls as dessert after the sausages where downed.

A lot of wild game manage to save their lives bacuase hunters stay home during bad weather. We challenged the rain and we were rewarded with this beautiful rabbit in grey-white winter fur – easy to spot in the snow-free area we hunted.
