Custom Molle Panel for the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

How do you make an excellent product even better? Call Øveland Products and have them add a custom molle panel to it!

Overlanders do what overlanders do – we love gadgets and gear! Looking at the back door of my Alu-Cab Canopy Camper, it sort of screems at me saying “add some stuff here!” I am not adding a spare wheel, so in face, all of this “real estate” is up for grabs, however, there is no place obvious way to add and fasten stuff to it. Together with Kjetil Risa, owner of Øveland Products, we prototyped an add-on to the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper that I sincerely think makes it an even better product.

Please add some stuff here!

I visisted Kjetil in his workshop a few times to make accurate measurements of the back door. At this point we are ready for install.

Ready for install.

Kjetil did an amazing job with the design and power coated it to match the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper and to withstand rough use.

Finally unpacked.

This is a molle panel design that really adds a lot of flexibility when it comes to adding stuff to it. You’d be really unfortunate not to find a suitable fastening point here.

Plenty of flexibility here.

Now we are at the business end of things. Drilling rather large holes in the back door of the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper is not for the faint hearted.

Drill if you have to – not because you’d like to.

Kjetil made sure the molle panel was added with perfection.

Install is done.

According to design, this custom molle panel should not interfere with the original molle panel at the back of the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper. As shown here, it was a perfect match.

No issues at all with regards between the two molle panels.

I must say, this looks awesome. I can’t help to think that this is how the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper should have looked in the first place – or at least this could have been an option for those of us not adding the spare wheel.

Isn’t this the way the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper should have looked in the first place?

The install is done and I am out for my first test drive.

First test drive.

I am super happy with how this turned out.

Looks great!

I can’t wait to add gear here. Watch out for future updates!

Watch out for future updates and gear to be added.
