There’s a New Truck in Town

I am upping the game by swapping my D-Max for a Hilux AT37. Same year, same color, bigger wheels – and I have some amazing plans for it!

As some of you have noticed, I recently sold my belowed “Max” – the 2018 Isuzu D-Max. It has been a tremendous joy to have this pickup truck as my hunting rig, especially with the excellent overlanding gear from Alu-Cab. It has opened a new world to me as well – the world of overlanding. I have met a lot of wonderful people in this community, and I have also learnt a lot from their experiences travelling and living out of a customized rig. Needless to say, swapping to a pickup truck has also had a significant impact on my hunting – it has enabled me to hunt even more than before!

The very first real-life look at my new ride.

I found the car on FINN.no, bought it unseen from Alta Auto, and finally picked it up in Drammen on April 24th 2023. It was transported all the way from Alta after I bought it a few weeks earlier.

Winter tires in April?

It came with winter tires mounted on, which I obviously had the change as it was now April in no more snow where I was heading.

A short stop at Arctic Trucks Norway.

On my way home I made a quick stop at Arctic Trucks Norway in Drammen. I ordered a lot of gear and had the summer wheels balanced and ready to be put on the car as soon as I got home.

First things first – a thorough wash!

A soon as I got home the car was sprayed down, cleaned as never before and summer tires fitted.

37 inch wheels are huge!

I totally digged my D-Max, but this Hilux is massively cool on 37 inch wheels!

Thank you, Børre!

Børre Bratvold at Arctic Trucks Norway made me buy more gear than I planned for, however, on the other side he also set me up with all these AT freebees as I had finally become a true, AT and Hilux overlander!

    Camper Heater Intake

Alu-Cab is a South African company, and while their products obviously work really well across the world, in the Nordic climate a heating option must be added to retain comfort throughout the year. I’ve already got a custom built heater in box, and here is how I solved the camper heater intake issue. The heater…

One aspect of hunting that still intrigues me, is that the more you hunt, the more you learn. And you will never be done learning. I almost learnt the hard way on a recent red deer hunt. I set myself up for a perfect situation with two red deer in front of me at around…
