Why do you hunt? To buy new gear? No. Well, actually, trying out new gear and adopting new technology are aspects of hunting that I find truly fascinating. Inspired by Kristoffer Clausen I was curious to try out the new Bog DeathGrip Tripod for my roebuck hunt.

Especially for roe buck hunting it is particularly useful with a solid and steady tripod. The Bog Hunt Grip is both. On the downside, it is a bit heavy, but for this kind of hunting where I usually don’t walk too far, but rather position myself around the hunting fields, scoping and trying to observe animals early, I found this tripod very good. It comes with a clamp that simply grabs your rifle and easily holds it in place. The tripod has adjustable feets for sitting, kneeling and standing. I am 192 cm and would like a longer version as I have to bend quite a bit when shooting standing up.

In the top image you see where I was positioned and the trace of my steps walking down to collect the animal. The roe buck was shot while grassing by the small stream running behind the row of threes and over at the other end of the field. Distance was measured at 212 meters. The bullet went exactly where it should and punctured both lungs. I found the buck in between the low-hanging trees by the creek a couple of meters from where it was shot.

I highly recommend the Bog DeathGrip Tripod for this type of hunting. If you are looking for a tripod to carry with you for longer hunts in the forrest or mountains, I would choose something else.
